You need to pick a specific American social welfare policy and/or program to focus on that is related to one of these broader topics: poverty, welfare, immigration, substance abuse, criminal justice, or the health care system and complete the prompts/questions to be addressed in the paper on whichever policy/program you choose. These paper guidelines, prompts, and questions are located in your syllabus. You may choose a Federal or State policy/program. Examples of social welfare issues and a corresponding policy/program are: Immigration and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), health care and the Affordable Care Act (ACA), poverty or welfare and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), etc. Once you pick a policy or program, you need to explain and outline what the program is, who qualifies for it, what the program offers, etc.
