For this assignment, choose a contemporary problem that you feel passionately about exploring. Research the topic you chose extensively and craft a thorough yet fleshed-out research paper of 2500-3000 words (10-12 pages double spaced), reporting on the topic based on the research you’ve done, as well as your personal understanding of and relationship to this topic. Your paper will argue how and why the issue matters in current society; it is up to you to determine the scale in which you will examine the issue, and clearly identify this early in the paper. Your paper should complete at least two of the following:
Describe a comprehensive history and/or the development of the issue within the scope or community you are writing about
Examine the cause(s) and effect(s) of the issue
Compare and contrast the issue to a similar problem and/or example of the same issue within a different scope
Analyze the impact the issue has, considering if and how it may fit into or derive from a larger problem
Provide a reasonable solution for some or all of the issue
Your essay must include an MLA style works cited list of at least two primary and three secondary sources.
