Who is an example of someone you (or a person close to you) relies on as an opinion leader on political matters and why do you (or this person you know) choose this particular individual to listen to about politics? After learning what issue publics are, do you think of yourself as a member of one, and why/why not? Then turning to the articles about recent elections and polling, according to Leonhardt, what concerns arose in 2016 and 2020 with how polls before Election Day differed from the election results? According to his article, who do polls seem to be missing and why do experts think this is happening? Then turning to Hill, what has he seen happen in terms of response rate over the course of his career in polling? Lastly, after reading the Kilgore article, despite the problems with 2020 polling what are some of the positives or bright spots from what we learned about polls in that election cycle? Overall, in your opinion, how do you think we should use polls in American politics?
