A case study is a critical look at a
real life situation or issue. By critical we mean a careful critique of the
issue and the implications of the issue. The topic for this case study will
correlate with Unit 5, Lesson 2’s discussion of medical ethics. You will be
expected to engage the issue with personal and educated thought based on our
readings, in discussion, and the video you will watch.
What do I
need to write about?
Your responsibility in writing your
case study is to weigh in on the debate on embryonic stem cell research. You
will need to work through the following processes as you respond to this issue:
1. Identify the core issue of the
situation: what is the ethical dilemma?
2. Relate our discussion of medical
ethics with the issue of this situation.
3. Dialog with both our discussion and
the information on the video and state what your opinion on the
issue is and why. If your opinion has changed because of the reading and/or
video, please explain.
What
format/guidelines should I use?
The case study should be between
800-1000 words, double-spaced (appx 3 pages). In addition, please use the
following guidelines for your paper, or you may receive deductions from your
grade:
Create a cover page with your
name, the course, and the date
Times New Roman font
Size 12 lettering
1-inch margins
Number your pages
Begin with the first line of
the first page
Must not end before the 18th
line of text on the third page
Submitted in MS Word format
(.doc or .docx)
Any
paper that contains plagiarism will automatically be given the grade of zero.
Papers containing plagiarism will not be allowed to be resubmitted.
How will I
submit the assignment?
The case study will be submitted in
the appropriate dropbox indicated for this assignment. The due date is located
on the course schedule.
