Each student will research, read, summarize, and critically analyze five research articles and write a short summary of each article.Students can select articles from different course topics.Articles that include early childhood, elementary, middle school, and high school students are suitable for the course. The students must find an empirically based article in a suitable journal (i.e., Multicultural Perspectives, The Journal of Early Childhood, The Reading Teacher, The Journal of Literacy Research, etc.). Sample topics include but are not limited to bullying, curriculum mandates,vouchers, privatization, testing and evaluation, reform initiatives, standards, and zero tolerance policies. The student will make a list of the articles in an annotated bibliography and write a short summary for each reference. All annotated bibliographies should follow APA format. Each reference should be written accordingly. All entries will include a brief summary of each article with a maximum of five sentences for each reference.
