What topic is the author writing about in their article?

You are to choose a newspaper/news magazine article to analyze.
Be sure to choose an article that is has been published WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. Choose an article that addresses an important, wide-spread current social issue/topic (environment, wealth inequality, etc.).
The article should come from a generally reputable source (New York Times, Washington Post, etc.). Please see me if you are unsure if your source is reputable. Also, make certain that your article is comprehensive enough that you have enough information for the analysis.
As part of the assignment, be sure to DOCUMENT/CITE THE ARTICLE YOU USE (author, date, title of article, page numbers, newspaper/newsmagazine, etc.).
If you find your source online instead of print (such as, www.nytimes.com) and are unsure of how to cite the online article, you can visit this webpage for help: http://www.easybib.com/reference/guide/apa/website
Writing Your Analysis:
You should first summarize the news article and the current event it addresses (this should take roughly one paragraph). What topic is the author writing about in their article? What is the author’s argument or issues involved? What is the evidence presented to back up their position?
Next, explore how this article relates to what you have learned this semester. You should give special attention to this section of the assignment. This should make up the bulk of your paper. Be clear and elaborate. You must answer this question in terms of concepts learned this semester. You need to use no fewer than 10 concepts in your analysis. Be sure to BOLD the concepts in your paper, so I can see them. Be sure to include concepts from across different chapters/weeks. How do these concepts relate to the current event and the arguments the author is making? If you write that a particular concept is relevant to the current event, explain how it is relevant. This means that you will first have to explain or define the concept. Then you have to provide evidence of how it is relevant to the current event. This will help demonstrate how you are using your sociological imagination to analyze the current event.
The concepts you include from class should be appropriately referenced (e.g. in addition to including your textbook on your reference page, you should use in-text citations, such as: Newman, 2019: pg#). If you do not provide references/citations for your news article AND the concepts used from class, you will not receive points for this assignment.
Finally, what are your conclusions? Why and how did you reach these conclusions? Be clear and specific.
