Identify literary devices in specific passages in the story and talk about their functions. Any interesting metaphors and similes? Irony? Personification? How do they help to understand the play better? Abstain from just saying something like: “The literary devices help to make the story more descriptive and help to understand the story better.” That doesn’t mean anything unless you explain what exactly the literary device helps to understand better and how.
· What images/imagery caught your attention (remember that images in literature do not have to be visual. Any descriptions that appeal to our senses (e.g. smells, sounds, textures) can serve as images in a work of literature. What does the imagery reveal about the story? Do you see any interesting patterns?
· Focus on the ambiguities in the poems. How would you interpret them?
· Other areas you can consider are line breaks, punctuation, rhythm, word choices, the visual aspects of the poem, etc.
