Essay 2: Response to Book, Film, Series, Game or Music of your choice

In this essay your are choosing your own book, film or music (artist, genre, or compilation of songs) and you are considering the media in relation to any aspect trauma, recovery, and/or culture that you choose. This means that you are opening up the meaning of the work as it relates to a theme that you want to examine in more detail. You may choose any theme you want in order to open up these examples of media as long as you relate it, directly or indirectly, to this course’s theme of trauma. Your essay can be entirely focused on the media of your choice, i.e. a ‘close reading’ of a book or film or artists’ work as it relates to your topic or it can use the example as a comparative lens to consider a broader culture issue, i.e. Split Tooth could be considered as it relates to Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women.
This essay will be discussed in more detail later in the semester.
You must include at least 4 scholarly sources outside of class readings.
You may use MLA or APA.
