Gothic Paper Guidelines
For this assignment, choose a short story, book, or a film (excluding “The Festival,” “Cask of Amontillado,” and “Young Goodman Brown”) and discuss how it falls into the gothic genre. Make sure to provide examples from the text to support your assertions. In addition, consider what the text may be saying about the culture to which it refers or from which it was created. Consider that the gothic is always prominent during times of religious skepticism or cultural upheaval. Does the work you chose relate such phenomena?

You must also have at least two library sources in addition to your primary source. Check physical sources in the library or look on the library databases such as JStor for academic articles. Please note that the story does not count as your academic source. Quote from the academic source to support your ideas. Do so in MLA format and provide a Work Cited page at the end listing the story you are writing about and the sources from which you have quoted.
