Kyle Writtenhouse Court Case

Students should spend at least two hours observing a trial or other court process, then write a five-page, typewritten paper about the experience. Approximately one-half of the paper should be a summary of your observations and the remaining portion should be commentary on how your observations relate to course material (and including at least five peer reviewed references, including the textbook (text counts as one reference) and other peer-reviewed sources. The paper should be written in APA format. You may also include your personal reactions. The paper will be due Monday, 11/15/21 at 11:59pm CST, and will account for 1/6th of your grade. Late papers will lose 10% of points for each day it is late. If it is not turned in promptly at the beginning of the class period it is due, it will be considered one day late.

Given the unique health implications and alteration in operations arising in the wake of COVID-19, it is also acceptable to watch two hours of legal proceedings on television, via CourtTV, etc. YouTube may also have some entire proceedings available. If you are uncertain whether a particular proceeding fulfills project criteria, please feel free to email me.
