For this assignment, you will submit a document that contains an introduction paragraph for the U3 Essay followed by an outline of your argument within the body paragraphs. Include an outline for the conclusion paragraph, too, if possible.
Begin by reviewing the information in the file “Drafting Your Essay Three Introduction.”
Draft a full introduction paragraph that contains your lead-in (or hook), your thesis statement, and supporting sentences. Try using an essay map near your thesis statement to help you organize your body paragraph’s arguments. (What’s an essay map? View the “From Topic to Thesis and Essay Map” presentation on this page.)
Then, create a relatively short outline for your essay’s body paragraphs.

Place your thesis statement at the beginning.
List the major points that support your thesis. Label them in Roman Numerals (I, II, III, etc.).
List supporting ideas or arguments for each major point. Label them in capital letters (A, B, C, etc.).
Continue to sub-divide each supporting idea until your outline is fully developed. Label them 1, 2, 3, etc., and then a, b, c, etc. For example, beneath the supporting ideas or arguments for each major point (the capital A, B, and C, etc) add your research that would help prove each of those major points. What research could support the ideas in II.A or II.B. in the example outline below?
