“Mother to son” by Langston Hughes

The assignment: You will share a poem with the class and will engage the class in a short post-poem activity. This activity might involve reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing, or representing. The entire presentation should last anywhere from five to ten minutes. You can read your poem and record a video and/or audio file, or simply create and upload a slide show or a text-based file about your poem.After you submit your presentation of your poem to the discussion board, write up a brief description of your poem and your activity or discussion question that you used to engage the class. Include your name, your poem title, name of the poet, and a discussion of your extension activity.
