Siemens and Germany’s rail operator Deutsche Bahn have announced plans to test a hydrogen-
powered train with a range of more than 370 miles, technology that promises to reduce CO2
emissions by making diesel burning engines obsolete. The two-car train will have a top speed of
100 mph and it can be recharged in just 15 minutes. The train, which is called the Mireo Plus H,
will be powered by a battery and fuel cells that converts hydrogen and oxygen into electricity.
