The subject of this paper is criminology and management. The degree I am seeking is in Criminal Justice Administration. Please read the paper, that I have attached, before adding what the professor suggested below:
As we discussed earlier this week, your juvenile justice reform paper is excellent with regard to the material covered.
Your final section, Leadership and Management Roles need to be significantly expanded taking the following into consideration:
As a police leader, what rational systems changes (Fayol, Taylor, Weber, etc.) would you make to facilitate juvenile justice reform , for example changes in policies, procedures, processes, organizational structure, supervision, etc. ? What natural systems/human relations changes would you make to facilitate juvenile justice reform, to change new norms, feelings, values about how juveniles should be treated by officers. Think transformational leadership, creating a new vision for the role of police with regard to juvenile justice. From an open systems perspective, what changes in the political, legal (legislation) and social-cultural environments would you advocate with regard to juvenile justice, what outside groups would you seek to work with concerning juvenile justice?
You can take the same approach for corrections and juvenile justice leaders. Note, judicial leadership is somewhat different as judges have tremendous independence and do not respond to a chain of command in the same way as other agencies. To the extent you choose to address judicial leaders, I would probably focus on sentencing of juvenile offenders.
