mexican border project

Mexican Border Project
1) Download the US – Mexican Border shapefile from the US Department of Homeland Security:
https://hifld-geoplatform.opendata.arcgis.com/datasets/mexico-and-us-border?geometry=- 141.133%2C24.231%2C-74.380%2C37.391
. 2) Add the border shapefile to a basemap of the USGS Topo from ESRI.
. 3) Develop a map that reflects the 1983 La Paz agreement regarding the 100 Kilometer Border Area using Buffer Analysis.
. 4) Color your buffer and border according to the assigned colors and textures.
. 5) Explore in a 2-page report the current issues surrounding that topic and the potential for GIS to contribute to the discussion. I would suggest a zoom in on a given area and perhaps some other data that could add to the discussion – roads – population – demographics or such
. 6) Utilizing ARCView, develop a final presentation quality map that includes a) Legend
. b) North Arrow
. c) Authors Name
. d) Date
