1) Pick an aspect of Franklin’s life, or some aspects of his life, or an event or some events in his life, or a writing, or some writings of Franklin. Analyze them to open up a window into the Kind of culture in which he lived. Think about questions like these: What were the important questions people living in his day asked? What were their assumptions about how to do things or how not to do things in their world?

2) The story of the “Middle Ground” between French, British, Iriquois, and Hurons and/ or of Native-English relations in One region (North/ Northeast), the Ohio country, South/ Southwest. Our readings are about the first two regions. From 1700-1763. As you write this paper, consider how Native and White societies interacted. What was the cultural logic of their interactions. How did they influence each other over time? You might want to write about one tribe, or one group of Natives in a particular region, and describe how they interacted with other powers, both Native and European.
