Compare and Contrast the core beliefs of three religions: Judaism, Christianity, and one other religion we have studied thus far this semester. For each religion, briefly explain how this faith explains the meaning of human life, and instructs human behavior. Conclude with a short paragraph comparing/contrasting the core beliefs of these religions.
Details:
400-600 words (about 1-2 12pt double-spaced pages) plus a works cited page must be submitted in the D2L dropbox labeled “Three Religions” by 11:59pm on Nov 11. There will be a grade penalty for papers above or below required word-count. The heading of your paper must have your name, subject cultures and word-count (word count should not include works cited page).
Sources:
This paper requires one primary source quote from each religion covered (example: a Torah/Bible quote for Judaism, a Gospel/Bible quote for Christianity, and a Primal Myths quote for the third religion). For a paper of this length, a quote should be about 15 words, no quote should be longer than 20 words. Biblical quotes can be found in the Bible, Primal Myths (the chapter on Old and New Testament), or our course readings about Judaism and Christianity.
Citations:
When quoting from the Bible, follow the quote with the name of the Biblical book, chapter, and verse in parentheses, for example: (Mark 15:41) Our course readings will generally contain this kind of citation. Do not quote the Bible and attribute it to an essayist or editor, like (Sproul, p. 123). The paper should then contain a standard works cited page listing all sources:
Author′s Name, “Chapter/Story” in Book Title (Publishing Company, City Year)
When I scan a document, I include all of this information. Different chapters/assignments from the textbooks should be cited separately, and can count as different sources (for example, two different creation stories from Primal Myths).
The Bible can be cited as
Holy Bible, [Version], (Publishing Company, City Year)
For “Version,” specify whether it is the New Revised Standard Version, King James Version, etc.
