Portfolio Part 3: Comparing your selected book to the material in the text

Portfolio Part 3: Comparing your selected book to the
material in the text (200
points).
Based on your overall analysis in Part 2, you should have a good understanding
of what
your selected strategy, leadership, or management book was about, the intended
audience, and
the implications the book suggested or provided. Your task is to professionally
compare what was in the book you selected to read to ALL the material in our MGT449 course
and then present your critical analysis of the book. (“ALL” the material refers to the
Thompson, et al,
text; the Finkelstein text, and any additional materials I have posted
throughout the semester.)
You will pick out specific points from your Portfolio #2 analysis that made the
most impact upon you and then compare those points to topics covered in the course.
YOU WILL
NOT COMPARE CHAPTER BY CHAPTER OF YOUR SELECTED BOOK TO THE
COURSE MATERIAL. Who would do that to a student? I want your personal
understanding of how your selected book compared to the information you have learned in the
semester.
Form your analysis with these points in mind:
·
First, what are the three most important strategic issues in the book that you found to be relevant in the MGT449 course. You may select more than three issues;
I am just giving you a base format.
·
Second, why are these issues important for a firm, and more specifically, for
This syllabus (including the schedule) is intended as a general
guide and may be modified during the course to reflect changes and/or updates
as needed. (DRD, 10/19/2021)

you, today. Could you predict what would happen to an organization if these issues were not addressed and resolved by the average firm or person?
·
Finally, how do these issues relate to concepts discussed in other classes you have had ended in the College of Business? Remember that MGT 449 is your capstone. You should be able to bring in the topics and materials you have learned from your other classes into this paper. (Organizational behavior,
entrepreneurial mindset, business and government, production and operations
management, supply chain management, leadership and ethics, etc.)
These are some additional questions you may consider while completing your
paper: do you think the issues identified in your book are generalizable to all firms
like profit, public,
non-profit, and governmental agencies? Why or why not? What surprised you in
this book and why? If you would like, use the additional consideration questions for your
Portfolio Part 2
assignment in this comparative analysis as well.
Your response to this exercise should be a minimum of seven pages in length,
not including the cover page and reference list. You are using your book analysis,
the text
summaries, and your own critical thought process to complete this assignment.

Side Notes: I will provide portfolio 2 and I can provide the 3 concepts from the chapters. Must have prior knowledge of the following books:
-Why do Smart Executives fail
-How to win friends and influence people (Dale Carnegie)
