This assignment will give you the opportunity to further reflect on the two pieces of art you chose in Week 3 and apply more of what you have learned to these examples.
Note: This assignment will be evaluated using the Brenau Fine Arts and Writing rubrics for the purposes of liberal education program assessment.
Continue to research the two artworks you selected as your most and least favorites in Week 3 of the course. This week, focus on learning about the artists and any art movements or schools of thought associated with the works.
Is the style of the work similar to that of other artists working in the same school or is it distinctive to that one artist? Are there other works by this artist that help you to better understand your chosen works? What ideas or philosophy, historical events, other artists, or patronage influenced the artist’s thinking? What artistic problems were they trying to solve?
