Would taxing fast food help combat obesity?

students will construct and deliver a speech to persuade the audience about a topic, cause, issue, group, or event that they care deeply about. They may attempt to form or change attitudes, alter beliefs, influence values, urge action, or refute a current argument. The student will uphold the highest ethical standards in their persuasive speeches. Students will use a structured persuasive pattern (Monroe’s Motivated Sequence or Problem-Solution, for example) to frame their outline. A number of verbal citations from multiple, diverse
sources are required in the speech, and students will submit a bibliography in APA format. This speech will range from 7-9 minutes, depending on the topic and the individual instructor’s specific requirements. This speech requires a formal outline submitted for grading.
