What is a characteristic, development, value, or personality in Athenian democracy that you believe we can use as a lensto understand a corresponding phenomenon in contemporary democratic societies?
(a) Does the democratic value of freedom have similar meanings for Athenians and for modern democracies, or are there too many differences to see them as the same? (b) What about equality – does this value have the same meaning for Athenians as for us?
