For this assignment, you must create your own argument about an article and then use the provided article to strengthen your argument. You can take side with the article and use it to reinforce your own argument, or you can take a different side on the issue and use the article to prove your own points. What must be clear, though, is that YOU are making an argument (thesis) about the issue and it NEEDS to be separate from the article. Try and stay away from just looking at the main points of the article and analyzing the article’s rhetoric. Use that sparingly. The Critical Analysis assignment should be about ⅔ of your own judgment and thoughts on the issue at hand.
Follow the traditional Academic American English Essay format that we discussed in class. Times New Roman font, 12pt, 1 inch margins, double spaced. Please properly cite your article using proper MLA formatting. Failure to do so will hurt your grade. Avoid unnecessary gaps or weird spaces between paragraphs. Your assignment needs to be about 4-5 pages in length.

To structure your essay, use the first paragraph or page to summarize the overall issue and then perform a mini objective/evaluating summary of the article. After that, use the remaining pages to construct your own argument as guided above. Be sure you include a conclusion that restates your essay and reinforces your argument, as well as a captivating introduction, but try not to sound cliche.
