Diagnosis is a widely debated topic among professionals that often exposes a divide between clinicians who don’t
believe in the practice and those that do. That said – the vast majority of insurance carriers will not reimburse for mental
health services rendered unless there is a DSM-V diagnosis present in the client’s file.
What are your thoughts on the practice of mental health diagnosis? Is it helpful or hurtful? What if your client wants to
know what his or her diagnosis is – could this ever be a negative experience?
