Using the description of the Qingming Festival Scroll offered by Valerie Hansen and the two documents written by Marco Polo, provide four pieces of evidence that illustrate China’s commercial revolution. Stated differently, where do you find evidence of a vigorous economy and long-distance trade in the Qingming Festival Scroll and the writings of Marco Polo? All told, you should provide a total of four examples [two from the scroll and two from the writings of Marco Polo]. Then, explain how each of these examples is connected to a particular policy or innovation of the Song Dynasty. How did the policies of the Song Dynasty help bring about the examples you offer?
