Original instructions below. The original writer did a poor job at the assignment below so I need someone to rewrite and edit the current paper. I have attached the paper in its current state (Current Paper – Sayles). Please rewrite it and make it sound like a student of the class wrote it. Follow the prompt below and clearly address the questions it is asking.
Write an 8-10 page paper that answers the questions listed
below regarding John Sayles filmmaking and its relevance to Catholicism and
America. The paper requires referencing several different John Sayles films as
well as referencing the readings that I have provided. Please answer each question
in detail and entirely. I have provided the readings as attachments and the John Sayles movies to be referenced are: Brother From Another Planet, Matewan, Eight Men Out, City of Hope, Passion Fish, Lone Star, Men with Guns, Limbo, and Amigo.
Answer the following 2 questions as written. Make sure to
address all aspects of each question and answer everything that each question asks.
Each question should be 4-5 pages in length. Answer 2 questions for a total of
8-10 pages.
1.
Answer both parts of this question:
A.
The week-one lecture in the class posed these questions: “Can art
have a Catholic level of significance even if it isn’t an explicitly
‘religious’ creation? Can one make a ‘non-religious’ but ‘religiously
significant’ movie in contemporary times?”
Drawing upon course readings, lectures, and films, argue a position on
these questions
B.
“Despite his self-definition as a ‘Roman Catholic Atheist,’ it is
legitimate to study Sayles as a Catholic filmmaker (or at least one for whom
Catholicism has notably influenced his work).” Argue for or against this
statement, using course readings and lectures to support your position.
2. “While
his films deal with many different subjects, eras and locations, the real
subject of all of John Sayles’ films is “America.”” What is America like, according to
Sayles? In constructing your answer, be
sure to consider in some depth matters of race, class and power; support your
position with examples from at least three of Sayles’ films. Do you find his vision of America compelling
or persuasive? Why or why not? Defend your position against major counterarguments.
