Your research essay will comprise a 600-800 word essay based on the presentation you just did. You will use the Presentation as an outline for your research essay. please only use Word (NOT pages). Do not describe the series you are analyzing. Use the theorists from our course and apply those theories to the subject matter of your essay. Think about the feedback you received on your presentation. Make sure not to make the same mistakes. Your essay is not a summary, it is an extended critical analysis of a series (or news item) using theorists to back up your arguments. You will of course also have your own examples. It is important that I hear YOUR voice in your essay – do not just repeat what others have said. Do NOT plagiarize any part of this assignment. I cannot stress that enough.
Formatting
Ideas that are not your own MUST be referenced APA style and in the correct format. In your essay please include a cover page, your name, the class, your student number and my name.Please make sure that opening paragraphs are present, as are conclusions. Each point/argument should be supported by evidence/facts and examples that are clear and illustrate that the writer is able to demonstrate that they understand what they are arguing. All parts of questions must be answered and examples must be given. Spelling, grammar and presentation should be perfect. Please note that the rubric covers spelling, grammar and presentation as well as organization. This is a very easy part to get a 100% in if you follow the above instructions. Use DOUBLE SPACING, Times New Roman, 12 point font. Follow normal academic conventions (ie don’t write in any other colour other than black type, do not put borders in etc). Make sure you have APA references – both in-text with page numbers and in your references.
Final Assignment
Write a paper using the research you have done on your presentation. It should be a minimum of 600-800 words. Remember, you are writing a critical and analytical paper – not a descriptive/narrative one. You should bring in one or two of the theorists we have studied to support your arguments – but I really want to hear your own voice and arguments. Please use APA and all normal standards.
This is a much more extended analytical and critical paper of the topics you have introduced in your presentation. You will discuss material that you did not mention in your presentation and will add other areas. You need to relate this to the themes of the course and to the theorists.
