POL/GSW 231: Policy Paper preliminary assignment.
Make sure to review the Public Policy Paper assignment before completing this worksheet. Paper assignment can be found in Assignments on Canvas.
1. Identify and describe the public policy issue or problem you will be examining in this paper. Why are you interested in this issue? Describe some of the questions/concerns you have regarding this issue.
2. Identify and briefly describe the public policy that is currently addressing this issue. When and why was this policy implemented? Is this policy adequately addressing the issue/problem? Where does it fall short? (If no policy has been enacted, explain why. Have attempts to pass public policy failed? Etc.)
3. Identify and describe TWO policy options/alternative to existing policy. In other words, if you were to replace/change current policy, how would you replace/change it? (If no policy exists, what are two proposed policy solutions?)

4. List at least four of the six sources you will be using for your paper. The best sources are scholarly articles or books. Policy analysis from reputable organizations (such as American Association of University Women) is also acceptable. Consult the librarians at UWM @ Waukesha or Washington Co. librarians when starting research. They are an incredible resource and are able to meet with students via Teams. I am also able to help.
