Chapter 14 discusses shantytowns–they are sometimes referred to as squatter settlements. People often associate these in developing countries but they exist in the United States (especially in cities with large homeless populations like San Francisco).
For this assignment, I would like for you to go through the chapter, the Powerpoint and the Youtube clips.
Based on the chapter reading and the clips, what is life like in the shanty towns?
What are the advantages of having “outsiders” visiting the shanty towns? What are the disadvantages?
