Problem/Solution Proposal

-You will be crafting a proposal providing a solution to a problem.
-You can write as a member of an organization that relates to your major or as an outside consultant working to solve a problem in your field.
-Problem/solution proposal will be 3,000 to 4,000 words, not including the memorandum page, the charts, or the graphs. The proposal must also be single-spaced.
Below are instructions and an example of an official problem/solution proposal for you to follow.

Introduction Part
Keep your introduction relatively brief; use it to prepare your readers to read the information you will be presenting in your proposal.
The introduction should be less than one page.
What to include:
What the proposal is about
Summarize the problem you are solving
Why the audience should be concerned
What benefits will the reader gain from your solution?
What will happen if the readers don’t hear your solution?
Mentions of sources and methods that you will be referencing
Introducing the sources you will be using makes you seem more credible because you have strong sources backing up your research
Body
The body will contain information that supports your conclusions as well as your analysis and interpretation of that information.
While writing your body, have a professional, firm tone using active voice and concise writing.
What to include:
An explanation of your chosen problem, including:
Logos
Facts, statistical evidence, and trends relating to your problem
Ethos
Results of credible studies or investigations
Ex: “The Dow Jones Travel Index calculates the average cost per day of business travel in the United States, based on average airfare, hotel rates, and rental car rates.”
Referencing authority
Ex: Using Wall Street Journal, other credible newspapers, or company records as sources for graphs
Pathos
Stories of how the problem has impacted others or emotional language
Ex: “The next two years promise to be difficult for Electrovision.”
