1. Read and understand the first two chapters of the paper. I am attaching a pdf. Please do your best to base your research and keep in mind that you can not change what is said in the first two chapters.
2. I attached a bibliography will references you SHOULD use in your research.
PLEASE:
1. read this article: here is the link and i will attach a PDF
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2095254617300637
“Collegiate athletes’ mental health services utilization: A systematic review of conceptualizations, operationalizations, facilitators, and barriers”
2. You figure out a way to model your paper after this article in the context of your research question (be sure to reframe it in a less leading way).
The RESEARCH QUESTION(S) THAT I WANT TO INVESTIGATE/ANSWER ARE:
– Why do student athletes under use available resources to aid in their mental health?
– What is difference between male and female student athlete mental health seeking
behavior?
SO-
Chapter 1: Intro (ending with “The purpose of this systematic review is….”)
Chapter 2: Methods (how are you answering your question?) include your search strategy with databases, limitations, key terms, inclusion criteria, etc.)
Chapter 3: Results: include a table in the paper of your analysis based off of your RQ and what you found in the literature
Chapter 4: Discussion: Synthesis of what you found.
Chapter 5: Implications and Recommendations for DIV III athletes? Coaches? Colleges?
References
I need you to read, write, and investigate about what is written in the assignment topic line. This will be a vital part of the rest of the project. The literature you review should be current and comprehensive (you’re not citing the same articles over and over again). It is important that you report the results of your primary hypotheses before reporting supplemental or secondary analyses.
I am attaching some references that could be/should be used in your writing and will be helpful. THE ARTICLES YOU USE NEED TO BE PEER-REVIEWED AND 90% SHOULD BE FROM 2010-PRESENT. FROM THE UNITED STATES.
The Problem and its setting
Start w research question: What is the Relationship between Mental Health Literacy and Perceptions of Help-Seeking in
The problem: professionals are presented to address the growing concern that college student-athletes are increasingly underutilizing counseling and support services.
The purpose: Mental health is not advertised enough and it is still stigmatized. To add to research and literature to identify the groups that might warrant the need for specific approaches with each population and need for support and ways to find
Why this research is important(relevant to): Mental health literacy has been defined as “knowledge and beliefs about mental disorders which aid their recognition, management or prevention. Mental health literacy is an important empowerment tool, as it helps people better understand their own and others mental health and enables them to act upon this information. It increases people’s resilience and control over their mental health and enhances help-seeking self-efficacy. Emerging adulthood or so-called “twenty-somethings” brings on many challenges. It is a time where we have to make many decisions that impact us on a life-long scale. Of course these issues will cause stress, but identifying groups of people that are affected by low mental health-literacy will help mental health professionals, higher learning institutions, and even parents to guide these young adults as they become self-reliant adults.
Hypothesis: Men have lower tendency to seek help, men in masculine sports feel more stigma and develop more barriers to seeking professional mental-health services.
