Short Independent Informative Paper
Guidelines
Papers should be double-spaced and written in Times New Roman, size 12.
The subject matter of the paper should be directly relevant to the parameters of our course description. Papers should be informative and should not make normative judgments about the subject matter.
A “religious group” would be any group whose beliefs and practices distinguish them or lead them to identify themselves. Be specific about whom you are writing. [Who? What? When? Where? Why? Ultimately, what makes the group distinctive?]
The maximum length of the paper can be 10 pages. Maybe more, if it’s interesting.
Each paper should utilize materials from five separate scholarly sources. A scholarly source is one that has been peer-reviewed by a consensus of experts and is then deemed worthy of publication by a journal of a professional academic conference or as a book through a respected academic press.

There should be a Works Cited section at the end of the paper. Entries should not include weblinks from the library databases. It just looks like a bunch of trash at the end of your paper, and often the links end up going nowhere. Each entry should include 1) the name of the author/s; 2) the name of the article/book; 3) the publisher of the article/book; and 4) the year of the publication. In-text citations or footnote only need to include the name of the author and a page number.

a) Works Cited form for a Journal Article citation:
Kime Lawson, “Kime Lawson’s Early Years,” The Journal of Kime Lawson Studies, (Philadelphia, 2021)
b) Work Cited form for a Book citation:
Kime Lawson, The Life of Kime Lawson, (Philadelphia: Kime Lawson University Press), 2021
References to sources in your paper only need the author’s last name and a page number, eg, (Lawson, 4). But if your sources are different titles written by the same author you’ll need to include the title also within the parenthesis so that I can distinguish the sources.
