In order to change minds, you have to understand the values and positions that members of your audience already hold. Find ways to use what your audience already believes. Use logic to move your audience from where they are to where you want them to be. Use authorities, examples, and reasons to support your position. Establish credibility with your audience by showing wisdom, knowledge, and goodwill. Find an appropriate attitude of your own, and try to put the audience in an appropriate mood that will make them follow your logic. Anticipate and handle the best counterarguments to your position.
