LITERATURE REVIEW: ROUGH DRAFT ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
For this assignment, you will create a narrative review of the literature on your research topic.
The Literature Review: Rough Draft must follow the basic structure of the Dissertation
Handbook template (quantitative or qualitative) for Chapter 2 and be at least five pages,
excluding the title and reference pages. Your Literature Review: Rough Draft must include
relevant citations from your Forms: Research Review and Literature Review: Outline, follow
current APA format, and consist of at least ten empirical, scholarly sources that have been
published within the last five years. Use your approved or improved Literature Review:
Outline as a foundation for the Literature Review.
Specific Guidelines
 The Literature Review will include the following required current APA formatted Level
1 headings: Overview, Theoretical Framework, Related Literature, and Summary. The
body of the paper must be at least five pages. You can complete something in each
section or complete some sections and leave others in outline format, as long as at least
five pages are completed. Please show all headings to Level 3, if possible.
 Begin the paper with a title page. Provide a brief narrative overview of the major content
of the literature and a brief narrative summary at the end of the body of the paper. End
the paper with a reference page of all sources identified in the Literature Review. You
can reuse the overview and summary from the outline if they were adequately done.
Incorporate feedback as needed.
 The Literature Review is not merely a series of summaries of individual studies; rather,
it is a coherent and cohesive synthesis of all your sources. Paragraphs citing only one
source are a prime example of summary instead of synthesis.
 The final product must comply with current APA format requirements and must be
submitted in a Microsoft Word document. The entire paper must be at least 1,750 words,
not including the title and reference pages.
