Engineering advantages and disadvantages of different bridge designs

1. 8-10 pages length, 2 line spacing, MLA format
2. At least TWO sources from books, journal articles, web articles (e.g., Wikipedia entries) need to be cited in the references part.
3. Use of your language, i.e. paraphrasing and summarizing but not copying. The paper will be run through Turnitin to verify that it’s not plagiarism. If you are quoting another document, please use quotes and proper citation rules.
4. Language style should be tight and crisp. Avoid long, drawn-out sentences. Your target audiences are fellow students and your instructor. Do not assume any prior knowledge on their part regarding your topic. Briefly introduce the main points as your would if you were a news anchor, after which discuss the device(s), system(s), technology in a more leisurely and detailed manner.
5. The objective is to inform and educate a layperson (not necessarily acquainted with the subject matter) but to also convince him or her why this is interesting and/or important from an engineering perspective. Let the writing show this, i.e., the ideas, examples, conclusions, and not so much qualifying expressions such as ” I think that this is very… interesting, exciting, important, cool, etc.”
6. Avoid colloquial terms and expressions; this is not a text message. Be guided by proper grammar and terminology.
7. The basic structure is (as always): brief introduction- one or two paragraphs (up to a page), main body at least 3.5 pages, conclusion- on or two paragraphs, reference part- a few lines.
