Reading 11: Williamson.Cluse-Tolar – Pimp-Controlled Prostitution: Still an Integral Part of Street Life
Williamson and Cluse-Tolar discuss the most common form of prostitution from the perspective of street hookers and pimps. The goal is to understand why people participate in these dangerous and, perhaps for many, degrading activities. The authors highlight the rules of the game, turning a woman out, free enterprise and choosing-up, pimp and prostitute relationships in the game, pimp-related violence (emotional and physical), and leaving the game.
