Compassion Fatigue/Burnout

As you have learned, many occupations are associated with the business of death. They range from pastors, nurses, social workers, hospice workers/volunteers, etc.. Chapter 14 discusses the issues of burnout and compassion fatigue. This can result from the human emotions of patients/family members of the dying loved one, communication barriers in their place of work, long hours, frustration, and other stressors of the job.

Develop a list of questions you will ask a person who works in this arena. Then, write a paper about the responses and questions you asked via their experiences in working with life threatening and terminally ill persons. Do NOT use the person’s real name – -but, do include their occupation. You can create a name for the person. You do NOT have to list the specific occupational place – but the specific occupation should be listed, such as caseworker, nurse, pastor, police officer, counselor, coroner, etc…

This paper should NOT be just a list of questions and answers… it should be 2-3 pages in length, not including the title page, double spaced, 11 font, and 1 inch margins.
