How would you describe yourself as a writer or your writing skills at the beginning of this course?

ENG 111 – Reflective Essay

As part of your final exam, write a reflective essay in which you consider your writing journey for this
semester. Follow the basic guidelines of the MLA formatting (heading, page numbers, font, and point
size). Be sure to construct your essay with the basic structure (introduction, thesis statement, body, and
conclusion.)

Your essay will count 60 points towards your final exam grade. Refer to the outline below on what to
include in the essay. You should craft your answers in well-constructed and logically ordered paragraphs.
Do not simply answer the questions.

INTRODUCTION:
• Why did you take ENG 111?
• What did you expect from the course at the beginning of the semester?
• How would you describe yourself as a writer or your writing skills at the beginning of this course?

BODY:
Thinking of your three main essays (opinion, analysis, and narrative), address the following points in the
body of your essay.
• Which essay are you most proud of or do you feel made you feel most accomplished? Explain your
answer.
• What do you feel you could have done differently or better for any of the essays? How do you wish
you could improve them?
• What did you learn about the revision process for each of your essays? What kinds of changes did you
make between your rough drafts and final drafts? What caused you to make those changes?
• What are your thoughts on using the blog in the class? Would you have liked to have used it more? Do
you find any importance or relevance in knowing how to write for a blog?

CONCLUSION:
• What have you learned in this course?
• How have you grown, developed, or improved as a writer since the beginning of the course?
• What will you continue to do to enhance your writing skills?
• What recommendations do you have for students who take this course in the future?

Submit the final draft of your essay to Moodle in the designated location in Week 16 by the due date the
instructor specifies.
