You may create your own original solution, support a solution you found in one of your
sources, or create a combination solution from sources and your own thought. Just
remember, any solution ideas taken from your sources must be credited to those sources
or you are plagiarizing.
This paper must also show your own thought. The argument represents your opinion of
the topic backed up by facts from your sources and your own experience, if relevant. You
will not pass this assignment if all you create is a patchwork of quotes, summaries,
and paraphrases from your sources. Explain to the reader what makes your evidence
so strong. Why should we be persuaded by your statistics? What does your example
prove? Why should we even care about this problem? Why is your solution better than
others proposed?
This essay is a synthesis, like your last paper, so you need to weave together material
from a variety of sources, supporting and explaining each other. Your worksheet/template
will help you set this up. Your own thought must be in here too, analyzing material from
the sources, evaluating the data from your side and the opposition, and explaining to
readers what the significance of the material is and why your proposed solution is the
best one. You will also include your opinion in this paper. Just be sure to explain to
readers why you feel the way you do about your topic or about specific evidence. This is
a complex piece of writing and will take time to do well
