Write about ‘Baltimore Accent – Dialect’
You should;
a. What is a Baltimore Accent Dialect?
b. Describe any relevant historical, cultural, ethnic, gender, etc. influences that have shaped the development of this modern dialect. For example, “the Cajun dialect was influenced by French colonization in the year… and led to certain words being adopted like…”
c. Describe the grammar of the dialect (e.g., general pronunciation, vocabulary, syntax, etc.) in comparison to General American English. Or in other words, what makes this dialect unique from other Mainstream or General Dialects of English. Please do not focus on just one example (e.g., all the slang words used in the Boston Dialect) but try to provide an overall survey of the (e.g., slang, pronunciation, syntax, together) of what makes it unique.
d. Transcription: Find a short speech sample clip of the dialect (about 15 seconds) and using the an IPA symbols transcriber to transcribe the 15 seconds video of the Baltimore accent to an IPA meaning. The clip can be any media sample, but it might be simplest to use something readily online (e.g., YouTube Video).
