Discuss the strengths present in the client, the client’s environment, the strengths you bring, the strengths of the agency, and the strengths of the larger system/environment

Select a client from your field practicum experience that you found interesting or challenging. In a 8 page paper, address the following areas:
Briefly describe:
The individual client (age, sex, gender, ethnicity, race, class, family constellation, etc.)
The setting and focus of services
The length of time you have been working together (including frequency and number of sessions)
Describe in detail the following specifics of the case:
What is the client’s definition of the presenting issues?
How did you come to work together?
How did others (treating professionals, family, referring and collateral agencies) conceptualize the salient issues in the case?
How do you conceptualize the issues?
Analyze the issues taking into account the following qualifiers/variables:
Biological, psychological, social, spiritual and cultural factors
Diversity issues (both yours and the client’s) that may have impacted the client and your work together
Agency and larger system/environmental issues that may impact resolution of issues (both positively and/or negatively)
Assessment tools used (including individual interviews) and the conclusions they assisted you in drawing
Use the DSM-5 nomenclature to assign diagnoses. Provide rationale for each diagnosis
Discuss the strengths present in the client, the client’s environment, the strengths you bring, the strengths of the agency, and the strengths of the larger system/environment
What treatment approaches or professional knowledge was most helpful for this particular client? Which treatment approaches learned in this class could be applied in this case? Be specific about particular interventions.
Evaluating the process: Identify some of the salient transference issues that developed within the helping relationship. How did these impact the work?
What aspects of the countertransference (thoughts, feelings, beliefs, biases) did you have to manage in order to be helpful? What aspects of the countertransference (including projective identification) helped you to better understand the client?
In hindsight, what might you have done differently to be more helpful?
Papers should be written and cited in accordance with APA (7th ed.) guidelines. A minimum of 7 scholarly references (beyond assigned course readings) drawn from peer-reviewed journals is required.
