2. The documentary makes the argument that the fundamental reason for poor American health outcomes is the high level of inequality endemic to our society. Why do you think inequality has such a damaging effect on health? Why are even the affluent people suffering more in high inequality areas?
3. Try to think back to what you’ve learned about race, gender and class stratification in the second part of this class. How does stratification on the basis of these statuses influence health outcomes? Can we improve the health of our society (or any society) by addressing social conditions, or does health need to be treated medically?
