H-CAPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) is the “first national, standardized, publicly reported survey of patients’ perspectives of hospital care.” (taken from cms.gov)
While this particular survey is situated in acute care settings, and is likely familiar to those nurses who work in hospitals, similar patient satisfaction surveys are being implemented through the healthcare industry. Nurses who interact with patients would be well served to consider, at all times, that the patient will be asked in some fashion to report their perceptions of our care.
