How is the music of America’s people both a window and a mirror?
Throughout this semester you’ve been identifying aspects of American music that are socially, musically, commercially, and personally important. This assignment asks you to put these ideas together.
The terms “window” and “mirror” are metaphors. In other words, what does the music that you studied this semester tell you about America’s people. A window allows you to look directly at something, while a mirror allows only a reflection.
