Write a paper about psychology career portfolio project.

Write a paper about psychology career portfolio project. There are many clinical and counseling specialties which can make entering the helping profession feel overwhelming and confusing. The career portfolio project will give students the opportunity to learn, in-depth, about a specialty area of interest.

For the CPP, students will compose a paper consisting of several sections about a helping profession specialty of interest. Specialties may include: clinical social work, mental health counseling, marriage & family therapy, school counseling, school psychology, psychiatry, counseling psychology, or clinical psychology (specify area is desired- child, forensic, neuropsy, health, etc.). If you would like to do the project on a specialty outside of this list, please check with the professor first!

The CPP components include:

Definition of the specialty and description of the role, responsibilities, tasks, settings, and populations served. For this section be thorough in exploring and covering the variety of work a certain professional may engage in.
For example, a clinical social worker/ MHC can work in a wide variety of settings with a wide variety of populations and presenting problems- this range should be included and explained.

The educational and practical training required. This should entail an accurate and precise description of what the educational requirement for the profession is and an explanation of what earning such educational credentials typically requires.
Additionally, describe practical training in terms of practicum, internships, supervised hours, and experience expectations.
Ultimately, what needs to be on someone’s resume to get this particular job?
Further, include details about licensing requirements. Does this profession require a license? If so, what does someone need to obtain a license? This will require learning about licensing requirements for a particular state (I would recommend New York)
Lastly, please include what, if any, professional organization oversees the practice, licensing, and advocacy of this specialty.

III.The job outlook and other logistical considerations. What is the job outlook for this specialty? Try to find information on the growth of the field and the need for these professionals at present. This information may be available through US Bureau of Labor, the profession’s professional organization, or perhaps through looking up job ads for the profession. Other logistical considerations to be covered include: average salary, typical work schedule, work/ life balance considerations, etc.

IV.Simulated Job Application. For the last component, students will complete two simulated activities. First, find a job advertisement for the specific job. Copy & Paste/ Screenshot the ad. Second, using the ad and all you have researched and learned in the previous components, design a resume that would be competitive to apply to the job. For this, students should create a hypothetical resume that has all the experiences and qualifications that would be necessary for someone to be hired for the job. Students are encouraged to be thoughtful about listing resume bullets that would be particularly attractive to the job ad listed.

When the final CPP paper is submitted (by 12/6, 10:20 am), each component should be combined into one single document with appropriate labels. Components I-III should be approximately 4 pages. Component IV (job ad and resume), should be separate pages added to the end of the paper. Students must apply the basic formatting of the APA publication manual which requires Times New Roman, double spaced, 1” margins.
