Assignment and Cumulative Final Paper Requirements
1. APA – use preformatted paper discussed during week 5’s lecture
State which type of paper (see below) you are writing as discussed during week 5’s lecture
An analytical paper breaks down an issue or an idea into its component parts evaluates the issue or idea and presents this breakdown and evaluation to the audience.
An expository (explanatory) paper explains something to the audience.
An argumentative paper makes a claim about a topic and justifies this claim with specific evidence. The claim could be an opinion, a policy proposal, an evaluation, a cause-and-effect statement, or an interpretation. The goal of the argumentative paper is to convince the audience that the claim is true based on the evidence provided.
Topic and thesis must be on point with any topic studied during the course.
Must incorporate your interview findings paper in the content of your paper. Discussed during week 5’s lecture.
Ten pages, double spaced, 12-point font. The abstract, title, and reference pages do not count towards the ten pages.
You must have a minimum of fifteen references.
Of those fifteen:
· one should be case law
· one should be the law (RCW, constitution, WAC, court rule, etc)
· four scholarly peer-reviewed articles
· one reference to a LJO/CJO website or organizational website
· two videos – any type of video – Hint Seattle is Dying, Fight for the Soul of Seattle or the If Project documentary
· one of your interview findings (do not name the organization or the person you
interviewed unless you received permission to do so)
· one reference to a theoretical framework using Guy and Ely (your course textbook)
· two data and statistics references
· two newspaper or magazine articles
Please note you will need to read your sources as you will have to develop a thesis based on your sources. You will need to begin using CWU library databases soon so that you do not wait until the last minute to research. You should have your research completed no later than Monday, November 29.
