During this lab, you will be writing a journal as you observe a celestial object in the sky. You will work on this project during the entire course, but the first step is to choose your celestial object. Once you have chosen your object and submitted this assignment, you will unlock the Observation Lab Project and Final Module so that you can see all the details for the final project.
Instructions for observational lab:
This lab is worth 60 points and is open all semester, to be completed by the due date. You are to observe a star, collection of stars, moon, and/or planet in the night sky over the course of the semester. This is your Observational Lab, and it is up to you to follow a weekly observation schedule. There are questions to be completed for this lab, so please download the attached document and submit it by the due date.
Labs will be graded on understanding concepts and not on the length of answers. The student must answer all questions for a full grade; note questions may require an explanation. One-word answers are not acceptable. Labs require assigned readings from the OpenStax online textbook, which includes understanding figures, and possibly using information from tables for successful completion of the lab. NASA links are used for some labs.
Labs should be your own work, based on your own observations and your understanding of the material and vocabulary in the course.
