5 EBSCOhost sources pertaining to the argument: 100 points (20 points per source).
10 points are determined based on if the source is peer-reviewed from EBSCOhost (or another academic database).
5 points are determined based on if the source is quoted with an anchor (i.e., it’s attached to your voice, rather than “floating” or simply copy-pasted in).
5 points are determined based on if (and how thoroughly) you respond to the source.
Introduction paragraphs: 20 points.

Body paragraphs: 20 points.
5 points are determined by topic sentences.

MLA style: 20 points.
5 points are determined by spacing, including double-spaced lines, 1″ margins, indented paragraphs, and no extra spaces between paragraphs.
5 points are determined by font, including a 12-point standard font that does not include unnecessary stylization, including bolding, underline, and italics (note styling is necessary in some instances, such as italicizing the name of a movie or novel).
5 points are determined by including your name, the instructor name, the class name, and the date in the upper left-hand corner of the first page (within the body of the document), as well as last name and page numbers in the upper right-hand corner (within the header of the document).
5 points are determined by including in-text citations for source use.
Works Cited: 10 points.
5 points are determined by proper formatting, including the first line of each source hugging the margin (and all other lines of each source indented), as well as listing sources in alphabetical order.
5 points are determined by including all relevant information for each source, based on MLA guidelines for the Works Cited page (note you can find this information in EBSCOhost, per our lectures).
Editing: 10 points.
5 points are determined by proofreading for obvious typos (occasional errors are acceptable), as well as polishing any sentences that are fused, comma-spliced, or in run-on form.
5 points are determined by removal of unnecessary words and phrases, including “I think,” “I believe,” “I feel,” and other instances of the personal pronoun used without necessity (note that the personal pronoun can still be included if it’s necessary for the content to make sense, such as using a personal story as a lead-in to an argument).
Research papers under 2000 words will receive a zero.
