You move from talking about social ambiguity (what class is Frank exactly?) to Austen’s ironic and free indirect discourse to Ms Bates’ role in the novel. The problem is, none of this hangs together as a focused argumentative essay. From the first paragraph, I assumed you would be writing about Austen’s use of FID. But the paper doesn’t go on to do this – it makes vague statements about style (what are the characteristic literary styles of the 18th century? How do we know Austen is using them if you don’t define them?) but I see no argument here. Your title suggests this too – language and imagery are what the novel is made of. To analyze it all is too much work for one paper. What kind of pattern of images do you want to look at? What kind of style? And what argument are you building about it?
You need to have an idea about what you want to say about how and why Austen uses this style, and you need 3-4 examples of where we see it working that you can analyze to help you support whatever your argument ends up being.
