Explain and discuss in-depth the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) program in relation to Human Resource Management.

. Make sure you understand that the first part of the research paper is to cover the
“top” three to five Human Resource Management challenges and trends affecting
HRM (based on your research) and not on one specific topic such as recruitment.
 With such on open-ended assignment, I would like you to link your thoughts to
the content shared by your textbook and others in the field through your
scholarly research and an interview with an HR professional (explained below).
 The current COVID-19 global pandemic should be discussed.
2. The second part of the research paper should specifically explain and discuss in-depth
the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and the Families First
Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) program in relation to Human Resource
Management.
 Include up to date information and possible changes to the PPACA and FFCRA
programs that are coming in the future, include how these programs might
impact organizations from an HR standpoint (think of recruiting and retention of
employees as well). Note this section is worth 20 points.
3. In addition, Interview an HR professional to gain real life insight and include the
information in your research paper on the challenges and trends HR professionals are
facing today and in the future as well as their perspective on the impacts of the PPACA
and FFCRA. You are required to include a minimum of four in-depth questions and
statements from the interview with an HR professional.
Note – You may interview a supervisor, manager, HR professional that has experience
related to some of the HR functions. You may conduct the interview via telephone,
email, video call, in-person (if it works), etc. Let me know if you have any questions
regarding the expectations.
2
You should incorporate this interview throughout the paper as it fits with your research;
make sure to include the appropriate in-text citations.
You have the freedom to choose which questions you would like to ask the HR
professional, however you are required to include (at a minimum) sections a, b, c,
and d below in your interview. Include the information in your paper.
a. Include a brief introduction and background of the HR professional (or
manager) you chose to interview. If they do not want their name included that is
okay, you can make up a name for the purpose of this paper.
b. Include the HR professional’s thoughts and experiences relating to the top
challenges and trends you chose to research as well as if they are experiencing
other challenges and trends in their workplace.
 In addition, include their experience and thoughts about the PPACA and
FFCRA (their viewpoint and experiences as both an employer and as an
employee).
c. Include comments about the COVID-19 pandemic and impact during the
interview with an HR professional. You may also include COVID-19 as a
challenge/trend in your research.
d. Include the HR professional’s thoughts and experiences with HR becoming a
strategic business partner in organizations today and in the future.
Note – You may want to start your research with the interview with an HR
professional to gain real life insight on the top challenges and trends impacting HR
today and in the future in the workplace (to help guide you), then research those
topics more in-depth. However, you decide what works best for you. Have fun and
get creative with the interview!
This is a great opportunity to interview and visit with an HR professional to connect
what we have learned throughout this course, your research, and while gaining
valuable real life insight. Be sure to thank them for their time!
4. In your conclusion of the research paper in addition to thoughtfully summarizing your
research and interview, explain how HR is a strategic business partner in organizations
today and in the future.
Begin your paper with a strong introduction that sets the stage for what you will cover in the
paper and end your paper with a strong summary/conclusion that thoughtfully ends your
paper, telling the reader what can be learned by understanding the materials presented in the
paper. Please note, I am not requiring an abstract for this research assignment.
