Which choices are individuals facing if they are not accepted by their society?

Ideology, Self, and Community: Which choices are individuals facing if they are not
accepted by their society? Compare TWO of the following: Rothemund’s film Sophie
Scholl and Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream,” or the Critique of the Vietnam War
in Apocalypse Now and a Dylan protest song (or the Woodstock Festival 1969). You
may consider the following questions: what role does ideology play in undermining the
dignity of a marginalized Self within the larger community? Do those who are sent to
War (WWII or Vietnam War) internalize their mission or do they become critical? In
turn, do those who are humiliated, exploited, or victimized internalize the treatment they
are receiving and succumb to it, or do they fight injustice, and how do they fight? What
are their “weapons”?
